Talk and train

First of all a very warm welcome to this new part of our website.

Our “Talk and train” section is intended to as its titled to have discussions about all aspects of Armature Radio, to share and pass on the massive amount of knowledge and resource we all have.

This is fantastic opportunity from a simple recap on a topic of on things long forgotten or drawing on the strengths of other Amateur Radio Members to pass on their expertise through structured talks to newly licensed operators.

Riviera ARC members enjoyed an open discussion night at one of the November meetings.

At members request, a question and answer session as well as a tips and wrinkles presentation by Ian G6TEQ on various data modes. The presentation covered various program settings within WSJT-X to optimize the programs efficiency.

Also covered was the process of linking WSJT-X with GridTracker2 and the Log4OM program to enable a graphical display of contacts and automatic logging. GridTracker2 facilities were explored to explain how to hunt various specified criteria that the operator defined.

Members were also give a demonstration of JTDX_improved as an alternative to WSJT-X and shown the Candidate release of WSJT-X to allow a choice of operating software.

A brief demonstration of JS8Call was made for those wanting a more interactice data program but with similar setup criteria.

Chris 2E1WLL gave an update and demonstration of his club logging program that was initially developed for 145 Alive but now expanded for club or individual use including SES.

Chris also gave an initial presentation on the CW interactive program he is working on particularly for operators with physical limitations of hand movements. This is hoped to eventually decode and encode text to CW and visa versa from keyboard and monitor
